A's Streak Over

What is a poutine?

Well the big inning came but it wasn't for the A's but for the Jays who won this one 10-4. The A's got off to the early lead as Josh Reddick took Jays starter Aaron Laffey deep into the A's bullpen for his 22nd round tripper of the season, which as the Jays broadcast noted was just another for the league leaders in HRs since the All Star break (crazy huh?). In the top of the fourth Brandon Inge added another post-All Star break home run, this one with Yoenis Cespedes, to make the score 3-0 in favor of Oakland.

In the bottom half of the inning, that all quickly went for naught as Milone got into some trouble allowing singles to Rajai Davis and Brett Lawrie before Edwin Encarnacion cleared them with his 27th big fly of 2012 to tie it. Rogers Centre doesn't hold them in and Milone didn't keep a lid on this one from the swing, and the sound you knew it was gone before the camera even had to pan to the outfield.

But the A's have been hot. And like a hot team, they relinquished the lead, and got it right back scoring a run in the top half. But the 4-3 lead was short lived. Travis Snider laid down the safety squeeze, Colby Rasmus scored from third, and Chris Carter dropped Milone's throw allowing Brett Lawrie to score too and give the Jays a 5-4 lead. They would not look back as Kelly Johnson would hit a solo shot to make it 6-4 in the seventh. And then the Jays would have a big four run eighth inning.

Still... the A's had to lose sometime. Let's start a streak tomorrow.
