Uncle Charlie!
It's a baseball slumpbuster today, as the A's open the traditional second half of the schedule in Minneapolis at Target Field this evening. The A's are probably also seeking a little revenge, as the Twins swept the A's in May as part of the 9-game losing streak. Luckily for the A's, Brian Fuentes was released on Tuesday so he can't give up any walkoffs to Josh Willingham.
The A's will send master curveballer A.J. Griffin to the mound this evening to keep the momentum going. If the A's want to be serious playoff contenders (I know, right?!) they need to beat up on bad teams like the Twins. Especially before the Yankees come to town to try and spoil the party.
Lineups today, courtesy of baseballpress.com. It's righty-heavy, as Liriano starts for the Twins. Naturally, I expect Weeks to come away with at least two hits today.
