Didn't see that one coming. The A's have called up catcher Derek Norris and he is in today's lineup...to face Clayton Kershaw. Josh Donaldson has been optioned to AAA to make room, while Pedro Figueroa can carpool with Donaldson as the casualty to Jordan Norberto's return to the active roster. Figueroa can commiserate with Evan Scribner about how you get punished for pitching 3 great innings.

Norris' AAA stats this year? .273/.331/.474 with 8 HRs in 55 games. He was obtained, along with pitchers A.J. Cole, Brad Peacock, and last night's hero Tommy Milone, in the Gio Gonzalez trade.
