Why Aren't the A's Stealing Bases Anymore?

Seems like one of the differences between when the A's were playing mediocre ball and hovering around the .500 mark, and their recent poor play (with the exception of last night), is the A's were running a lot more early in the season. Makes me wonder what's going on.

Weeks and Crisp should steal virtually every time they reach first. I have far more faith in their wheels than I do in the A's bats. I don't get it.

There have been several occasions during this brutal stretch where a stolen base would have meant the difference between a force out and a double play and a run vs. a man on third. The A's need to go back to playing more small ball. I know they're hitting more HRs this year, but this team needs to manufacture runs anyway they can.

Hope Melvin gives these guys the green light more often. Need to see more stolen bases from Weeks, Crisp, Reddick, Pennington, Cespedes, etc. to get the most out of this anemic offense.

Let's Go A's!
