Hello,
I just moved to Oakland after having not lived in the Bay Area for about 15 years. Last time I lived here about 50% of the games were on cable and 50% were on either Channel 36 or one of the major broadcasting networks (don't remember which) and could be picked up by antennae. I was very excited to watch the A's from my living room again after years of having to go to sports bars to beg (I mean, who in their right mind would want to watch the A's in central Texas?) to catch a glimpse of my team. However, I just checked the A's TV schedule and saw that with the exception of the Saturday FOX day games, there is not a single game that isn't on cable. Does anybody know if non-cable networks "pick up" games throughout the season, or do you simply have to have cable to watch the A's? I'd really hate to get cable, but this may be a deal-breaker for me to suck it up and do it. I guess in a related question if I do have to go out to watch the game, does anybody know of a good place in the Grand Lake area?
Sorry if this is not the right place to put this, but I think this might be useful information for others as well. Thanks in advance.
