I've been meaning to ask:
Does anyone know, for sure, how Soler’s name is pronounced? Is it “SO-luhr”? Or “so-LAIR”?
I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal
i'm guessing
so-lair
we’ll find out when his name’s being announced at the new a’s stadium, hitting 3rd for us ;)
Snoochies
Normally
it would be the latter.

Glad he's given the chance to build the team through the new stadium.
I would love to see him achieve this mega-rebuild we’re about to see.
WHAT!??!?!?!?!?!?!
Great news, fantastic news.
So very pleased. And as Slusser noted on Twitter, this is likely a sign that the new stadium is close. No way Beane sticks around through 2019 without a stadium coming.
For the occasional grief people around here give him, this is a guy who is completely dedicated to the organization we all love. He’s been the “it” guy in baseball plenty of times, and has passed up multiple opportunities to leave for more lucrative pastures but has elected each time to stay here and commit to this franchise. I’ve run into him a few times on the street and he’s a complete class act, and a guy I’m proud will be at the top of the organization for the rest of the decade. I love it.

I couldn't have said it better myself.
I can’t wait to see how everything unfolds in San Jose with him still in control. Hell yeah.
This. Team.

I so hope there is an annoucement coming before opening day
It’ll make the long season ahead so worth it.
I'm sad to admit that the first site I check every morning is Jane Lee's twitter feed.

This is basically what popped into my mind as well.
Another tea leaf suggesting that a plan for San Jose should be coming. Teams in complete limbo don’t extend their GM’s out 7 years into the future.
Yay!
I wonder who plays him in the next movie when he finally wins the last game of the season.
I'm here to talk about the past.
Clear Eyes. Full Hearts. Can't Lose.

Terrible news that they extended Crowley
He is horrible. No job in sports before this he was just an accountant. He has no business being president of a sports team he has no idea what he’s doing. He views everything through a penny pinching accounting attitude. Have heard stories from front office people about him telling staff “how do you take that 1$ you want to spend and turn it into 2$” everytime they have an idea for some project they want to do. Ruins our marketing and media presence.
Win or lose, we'll always be there for you.
interesting
I know nothing about him. Any good articles about him?

i know of no public articles critical of him
all i know is what I can piece together from what I’ve been told by front office people with the horrible results we’ve had with the A’s and Quakes in areas that he is in charge of: marketing, attendance, and public relations. I don’t have a problem with keeping the payroll in line with revenue but I do have a problem with the way he’s run the other parts of the business. The results have been quite frankly disastrous in terms of attendance for both organizations. I understand attendance will be lower when your results on the field are poor, but it should not this low.
With the Quakes, they had a very successful year in 2010 but still couldn’t do well in attendance under Crowley. Then Crowley left after the 2010 season, Dave Kaval came in and took over, and voila, even though the Quakes had horrible on-field results in 2011, they still sold out their last 6 home games in a row.
Thankfully Crowley is no longer involved with the Quakes but I don’t want him ruining things for the A’s either. And really, how does being an accountant qualify you to make decisions regarding marketing and PR stuff for a professional sports team? He brings in a different skill set from a different background that is entirely unsuitable for the role he’s been given.
Win or lose, we'll always be there for you.

PS: If Dave Kaval keeps doing a good job with the Quakes attendance
and improving their media presence and casual fan awareness, I would hope Lew would consider replacing Crowley with Kaval in charge the A’s. Kaval came from a baseball background before coming to the Quakes and he has a lot of connections with Silicon Valley corporate headquarters. For example, the Quakes just announced a couple months ago they would be adding luxury suites to the new stadium in SJ and they have sold 9 of the 12 of them at this point in time thanks in large part to Kaval’s rolodex.
Win or lose, we'll always be there for you.

the espn ticker says:
A’s and GM Billy Beane agree to extension through 2019, Bloomberg reports. Team has won 1 playoff series (5 app) since Beane became GM in 1997 and last made playoffs in 2006.
are they slamming him? i read it very dryly
BK: This guy is on fire, he is really smokin'.
KenKo: Oh yeah, Bill? What's he smokin'?
Seems like editorializing
I was very annoyed with that little elbow jab they threw in there for no apparent reason
