Somewhat inspired by the greatest games thread, but rather, specifically, not just the greatest A's games, but rather, the greatest Oakland Athletics moments in the history of the club. Such as:
*How symbolic was it?
*What date did this take place on?
*Was this part of a play-off game? World Series? Critical regular season game? Average baseball game (that does not exist with the 2012 Oakland Athletics)?
*What players were involved?
If I had to name one, it would be the day when we clinched our playoff berth in the 2012 Postseason. We were able to just get enough runs off Martin Perez, the Ranger offense just couldn't get anything going, and Grant Balfour came in to slam the door shut, and he did it in the best way possible: by striking out the side. I still remember seeing that game on TV, how the whole Coliseum went loud, receiving texts from friends that we had made the postseason, the celebratory game thread, the symbolic photo of an Angels outfielder looking at the scoreboard in Safeco Field showing the A's had beaten the Rangers, and that an Angels win would mean nothing. It was an amazing feeling. How did what was thought a hapless team somehow manage to clinch a playoff spot?
