Jefry Marte is an interesting prospect. He was the Mets 16th ranked prospect at the time of the trade.
He was signed by the Mets in 2008 out of Dominican Republic at 16 years old and opened a lot of eyes in his first taste of professional baseball hitting 325 with a .930 OPS in the gulf coast league . Since then he has been moved aggressively through the Mets farm system and finished the 1012 season at AA. While his numbers since his eye opening rookie league stint do not look that great at first glance, you need to take into consideration that he has been playing in leagues where the average age is 2 years older than he is. Last year he played a full season at AA at the age of 21. His stat line was .251/.322/.366.
Considering his young age i am interested to see what he can do repeating at AA in 2013.
