Dan Johnson, an old favorite of mine, was non-tendered today by the White Sox.
His line in 2012, 14 games/31 AB:
| .364 | .548 | .818 | 1.367 |

He'd be a great plan B if Brandon Moss doesn't repeat.
His career OPS is .750 (and that includes his really bad 2011), he's consistently hit for power in the minors, and he's clutch in that Marco Scutaro kind of way:

Clutch matters, IMO---it's a mindset. Some guys just have better timing and response in those situations, and hitting is an art of milliseconds, so being 'in the zone' can make a difference. It's how the guy balances and reacts in those situations.
He seems like he'd fit right in with the walk-off-happy A's. Chili Davis could work his magic with him, and if Carter or Moss gets hurt or fails, we could use that 1B/DH. Plus, he'd be a great September call-up, as other teams have seen.
Low risk/high reward...bring back DJ! :)
edit: here's a great Rob Neyer SBNation post about Johnson:

"But if you're looking for a single living creature to symbolize the crazy mixed-up world in which we live and breathe and play and cheer, Daniel Ryan Johnson is your man." -Rob Neyer
