We need pitching, shortstop, and catcher. Plus, we can use some impact players.
I like signing veterans because our staff is so young. They provide support plus they have reliable and consistent arms. Sign Jamie Moyer to a 5 year deal. He’s a veteran the A’s staff needs. He’s a lefty and he has a career ERA 4.25. Because he’s been around so long we know that he’s going to pitch like his career average. I expect an ERA below 4 because he’s pitching in Oakland. It would be nice to know the A’s will have a veteran there for 5 years.
Trade for Derek Jeter because he’s won gold gloves and has a really good fielding percentage. He only made 10 errors last year and only 6 in 2010. He’s totally not overrated, and he’s not old. We can trade Cespedes because he played shortstop in junior high. Yankees won’t mind because they like international players.
If that doesn’t work I was thinking we should bring back Bobby Crosby. He was rookie of the year back in 2004 so he should be in the prime of his career now.
Sign Josh Hamilton but make sure he doesn’t have a no trade clause. Then trade him to Twins for Joe Mauer. The Twins will want to do that because Josh Hamiliton is super good and they didn’t sign him as a free agent. The Twins have only played him at catcher like 100 games so we should have him catch like 162. He would be more valuable to use. He can be like Cal Ripken.
Everyone loves a great player in a position that we don't need filled. Trade for Mike Trout because the Angel’s outfield is crowded. Mike Trout is awesome and young. We only have 5 good outfielders so we should add a 6th. We can give them a lot of our players for just Trout so it’s a good trade. We’ll give them Taylor, Barton, Godfrey, Cowgill, and Hicks. We can add maybe one or two more players as long as they are useless. Other teams really like a big group of useless players.
