2013: Grant-ing Success?

As sad as this playoff loss was....I'm pretty pumped that this team's going to be together a long time.

How could they improve in 2013?

The one thing (and pretty much only thing) I see this team missing is another hitter for average or two, a la Cespedes' ability to still hit tough pitching.

And I think we might already have the solution.

The only positions really in flux are the infield.

I don't think we'll see Drew back---option's expensive, and while he might come back for Melvin, we have Pennington to play SS and Scott Sizemore, Jemile Weeks, and (most importantly) Grant Green to play 2B.

Green is playing 2B exclusively in the Arizona Fall League, and I think he's going to be a perfect fit for the ballclub offensively.

He hit .296/.338/.458 (for a .796 OPS) in AAA, and .291 in AA the year before.

A top of the order of Crisp-Green-Cespedes would be amazing, and it's the Green/Cespedes kind of hitter we'd need to succeed in the playoffs. Hitters like Yo don't grow on trees, but Green could be what the doctor ordered as far as a dynamic contact-hitter with some pop.

What other upgrades/changes could you see the A's doing next year to improve playoff---and general---success? Will Moss be David Ortiz, or Jack Cust? Weeks going to survive the winter as an A? Who's out there for veteran pitching, and do we need it?
