We just cut a 24-year-old who hit .314 in AAA for one year of Jonny Fucking Gomes. Cardenas should probably have been at least in the 5th OF/utility man conversation, and we’ve given away because we chose to screw other young OF’s out of a shot because we wanted to waste money and roster space on Jonny Fucking Gomes, who I could really see having an Andy Fox/Keith Ginter-like stay with the A’s. Brilliant.

This is the type of mistake rebuilding (read: bad) teams make that ensures that they never get good. The A’s front office just can’t get out of its own way on literally almost every single one of these moves, which continue to get more and more baffling as the days go by.
