Ticket Drive for Big Sisters/Brothers or Boys & Girls Club
Update from baseballgirl: You can paypal me any amount at baseballgirl1976 at hotmail and 100% of your donation will go to the cause chosen in this thread.
Hi,
About 5 years ago we (AN) started a bit of a fundraiser to buy tickets to A's games and donate them to the Boys & Girls Club. It was pretty successful. With the leadership of Blez, BBG, Nico and others we raised north of $3,000. 5 years ago people were pretty flush, so my expectations are tempered, but I thought that it'd still be nice to do another drive and send a few Oakland kids to see our and hopefully their A's. (While they're still in town!)
BaseballGirl has been kind enough to act as collector of funds. I'll let her edit this post with where to send the funds. In the meantime I will contact the A's ticket office to see what kind of deal we can get to stretch our generous dollars.
I ask that people post that they will donate. (No need to put the amount as that is personal and every dollar is helpful.)
Also, please feel free to discuss whether you think we should send large groups of kids to several games or 2 or 3 kids to many different games. I'm thinking a vote for Big Brother/Sister would be a vote for small groups while a vote for Boys and Girls Club would be larger groups of kids.
A note on food. Last time we made sure to include a soda and hot dog with each ticket, because what kind of baseball experience is whole without a dog and for most of these kids that is a pricey item. So I think our goal should be to include that with each ticket.
Thanks in advance for any commitments!

I will donate!!!! I swear!
And I voted for Sisters/Brothers because I feel a just a few kids together will pay more attention to the game over a group of 20 or 30 kids.

agreed
yep, I’m on your side…
Let's play two.
I'll chip in!
I didn’t vote since I’m not familiar enough with the organizations, and will donate in either case.
This sig line belongs to weenmAN. If found, please return.
Love this!
Thanks for posting — I’m always happy to see “Community Service consciousness” as part of AN, even though I know (as you acknowledge in your post) that right now a lot of people have big hearts but small wallets. Still, love seeing the big hearts at work!
I like Cindi. A. She never pretends to know more than she does. B. She has unbridled enthusiasm for her "Hotties," and isn't afraid to show it. -IM4Oakgal
Awesome
and I totally agree, sodas and hot dogs (or vegi dogs) should be included.
There's no crying in baseball!
Glad we are doing
