SPRING TRAINING
This is my attempt at forming a ST post where everyone can say when they are going to see our new group of strangers in A's gear this year. Hopefully with this post people will be able to meet up in AZ, share a beer or some nacho runs. I'm really not sure how many folks I know here anymore but I'm always willing to make new A's friends. With a very short ST this year I hope we all have a better chance to happen to catch each other at the games or even play catch in the parking lot.
My plan is to be there for the games 3/9-3/13
3/10-3/13 games will all be at PHOENIX MUNICIPAL STADIUM
This is one of our last years there so lets have some fun!

You're a week too early!
I’ll be there St. Patrick’s Day weekend; I’m going to all the A’s games from Friday to Monday, and I’ll be at Giants/Dodgers Saturday night. I will also be eating out at Blue Wasabi…the BEST restaurant in AZ!
:-)

Ooooh, I do not know Blue Wasabi......

I was going to go to go to Fogo de Chao which is nearby
I’ll have to ask my buddies if they want steak or sushi. Thanks for the tip.
No love for Don & Charlie's?

Call ahead for reservations
Unless you don’t mind eating at 5 or 10:30. It’s pretty popular with the snowbirds, local retirees, etc.

AN Tailgate = Euphemism for food porn.
Me too also: 3/16-3/19.

I believe they will play at Mesa in 2015, and Phoenix Muni in 2013 and 2014.
This is our last year there so lets have some fun!
oops you are correct sir
Only 2 more years of shade-less metal bleachers
Beane's World!! Excellent!!! Rock On, Beane! Rock On, Geren!
They have those at HohoKam if you really want them
Assuming they aren’t ripped out down the baselines during the “renovation” after the Cubs leave which is reportedly going to shrink HohoKam somewhat.
Nacho runs
Are a fact of life, when you decide to gorge on the fake cheese.
But I don’t know about sharing some nacho runs, usually they are a more uh…personal…experience.

I like Phoenix Municipal Stadium (PMS?)
but mostly because I travel with a bunch of Giants fans (FTG) and the cab ride from Scottsdale is pretty cheap.

March 8th-13th
I will be in ARZ on those dates and planon seeing the Athletics 3-4 times with two at PMS on the 10th & 11th.
"two at PMS" is probably better than it sounds.
Opening Day ’85…Was that Chris Codiroli?

Woot!
I haven’t looked it up, but by chance did Jack Perconte have a big triple in that game? And if so is it the last time, before this comment, that anyone thought about Jack Perconte?

Just looked it up
Yes, Perconte played! No, he didn’t triple. I have this memory of a two-run triple down the 1B line off of Codiroli, and me throwing things (probably live animals) at the TV screen.

the question now becomes
did you eat said animals after they ceased being live?

And it could have been a double
with a take to third on the throw. He did double.

No RBIs, though
The game I’m thinking of could have been the next series at the Kingdome; I thought it was Opening Night but maybe not.

After looking it up, you must be right AthFan&Runner
It had to be that game (Opening Night 1985) but it certainly wasn’t an RBI triple; maybe just an important double (take third on the throw) that ticked me off because it was Jack Perconte.

I just looked further
and it was a double to leadoff an inning, the bottom of the first actually, and he was on second base until he was singled in by the next hitter.

I'm now considering that the answer
may lie in the “alcohol was involved” milieu.

Try Havana Cafe on Camelback

I should be there March 16th-18th
maybe longer, possibly with an extra ticket some of those days. Went to the minor league complex for the first time last year, hope to make it over there again. Does anyone go to the Pink Pony anymore? Ended up drinking with Bob Schaefer at the bar next door (Grotto?) the year he signed on as the A’s bench coach – had quite an entertaining little chat!
I'll be there the weekend of the 24th
I’m sadly going to miss the A’s this year since they’ll have already split for Japan by then.
I'll be there that weekend
Going to games on the 11-13
