A's need power

With the 11th spot I expect the A’s to take the best player possible, maybe a pitcher such as McCullers, if he lasts that long. However, they may take a power hitter such as Victor Roache, Trey Williams, or Joey Gallo.

I would hope they use the pick for a solid, high upside college player

Wacha, Roache, Beck, etc.

Save the High School selection for a high upside player who falls due to signability to one of our second round picks

with the new cap on the draft I have a hard time seeing many of these players existing

Check the A's History

And see how far back you have to go for them to draft a HS pitcher in the first round.

They just don’t.

2010 – Sonny Gray, College pitcher
2010 – Michael Choice, College position player
2009 – Grant Green, College position player
2008 – Jemile Weeks, College position player
2007 – Simmons, College pitcher
2006 – Trevor Cahill – HS Pitcher! – but in the second round. Not in the first round
2005 – Cliff Pennington, College position player
2004 – Landon Powell, College Position player, (Plus Huston Street, College Pitcher)
