2012 A's Calendar
The 2012 A's Calendar has Bob Geren for the month of October.
Geren.
2012
16 months after he was fired.

I think the 2013 Calendar will have Ryan Langerhans on the cover.
Not to dump on the A's, cause it's more the fault of the calendar company, but could someone get their act together on this?
Enjoy, and have fun with the poll.

every year there are players on the calender that aren't on the team anymore.
I’m glad I did not get one for Christmas this year like years past.

Peter Hartlaub was riffing on this in the Chron today

To be fair, if the thing was publshed on October 28, 2011, it might have taken two or three months to be printed and shipped from wherever in China printed it. That still doesn’t excuse Geren being in it, but most of the others make sense.
The company that makes it publishes more than 1,000 other calendars including the 2012 Playboy Lingerie Calendar and the 2012 NYY Derek Jeter Calendar, which someone actually bothered to review on Amazon:
Tis is an excellent calendar. The pictures of Derek Jeter are of excellent quality. There isn’t one bad picture of him.
I love AN and I will damn f@$king well fight to stay here -- Kyli
i'd much rather a calendar of his wife, but i'm not really a fan of the yanks.
Zito: You ever think about the space time continuum?
Huddy: Uh... no.
I Noticed This
It’s nothing new. The calendars created before many trades or acquisitions take place so guys who are gone are featured. For example, in the 2005 calendar, Hudson and Mulder appeared.
Honestly, Tyson Ross is the biggest shocker to me
Ross went down in May, which seems about when this calendar was published. I suppose he was a better choice than Kouzmanoff (bleh). By the end of July I would certainly have put Sizemore in ahead of Ross. Moscoso wasn’t starting until the end of May so I guess he also wasn’t qualified.
Honestly, it’s kind of scary. When you really look at it it must have been a struggle coming up with 12 guys who you could be sure would be around for 2012. Tough task, actually must be fairly tough for a lot of teams. Just imagine the poor soul who will have to do the 2013 calendar (do you go with Reddick, Smith, Taylor, or Allen?).
Final thought: I wouldn’t mind seeing more bullpen guys make the calendar. Sure, sabermetrics tells us they aren’t worth much, but the A’s sure are more fun with Breslow and Balfour around. Tough to predict who might have the great year out of the pen in May, but Grant Balfour absolutely deserves a month when looking at the year-end stats.
"...Kouzmanoff(bleh)"....REALLY? :(
{crosses Ciderbeck off Christmas card list} ☺

Wouldn't the greater insult simply be to send me the 2013 calendar next x-mas?
Which may be even screwier than this year’s version.
