I’ve always thought we should judge the worth of baseball stats based on the all-important “how much does this make SullyBaseball’s head hurt?” (HMdtMSBHH?) metric.

I don’t know why we don’t refer to HMdtMSBHH? more. For example, AVG scores a great 1.1 head clutches, OBP a solid 3.7, but OPS is a terrible 14.2, and WAR an off-the-charts 83.3. It’s pretty clear which of those stats is the best here.
