Word on MLB Rumors is that the Yankees are campaigning hard for Gio Gonzalez. So far the A's aren't interested.
I'm asking: Would YOU trade Gio for Jesus Montero plus 2 complementary pieces for the Yankee's farm system?
Speaking for myself, as much as I like Gio, that would be a hard deal to turn down. Yes, the A's already have a similar player in Chris Carter, but we're talking about the best MLB ready hitting prospect in the minors (Bryce Harper is not MLB ready). When I think of Montero, I see a young Miguel Cabrera. You'd be trading 3 arb years of Gio for 6 years of Jesus, plus whatever else the Yankees thrown in to sweeten the deal.
Considering that many have already punted on 2012 then it makes even more sense since that's another year of Gio burned up with no chance of being a contender.
Everyone is always complaining about the lousy hitting. This is how you get it.
