Maybe I shouldn't go to Gloucester and, rather, spend my time at the Lake Monsters games keeping score. They seem to do better with me around and in town. I'll try that again next week.
Firstly, my apologies for another late report. This past weekend, the Lake Monsters split a weekend series with Aberdeen.
On Saturday, Chad Oberacker scored the winning run as the Lake Monsters held off the Ironbirds to win 4-3. Aberdeen nearly rallied with two one-out singles in the ninth, but the Lake Monsters' closer struck out the next two batters to preserve the win.
On Sunday, fours were wild as the Ironbirds had two four-run innings and defeated the Lake Monsters 9-4. Aberdeen has won four of its six meetings with Vermont (including Monday's game), but they have won only five other games all season against 22 losses after Monday's action (this total includes the two losses they have against Vermont). I can't figure it out.
Next weekend, the Lake Monsters will host Jamestown. This could likely be the first series I attend in person, so expect a much longer FanPost, complete with photos, from at least one of the games. Also, it's worth noting that this is the only series the Lake Monsters have against Jamestown during the 2011 season.
