Does anyone know if it's possible to shrink a baseball jersey? I just got an authentic (I hope) Rawlings A's jersey (the button down type) for $10 on eBay but it's a size 40 and I probably wear more like a 36. Can these go in the dryer, maybe dry clean? Or is it not possible?
I figured you guys would know the best out of anyone.

Probably not by the drying method, usually cotton shrinks this way, but not polyester.
However the jersey may shrink a little, but probably not what you are looking for. If you know anyone that can sew, pulling it apart and altering it may be your best bet. But that also can be time consuming, I don’t know how much time you felt like putting into it.
What you fail to understand in your joyless myopia is that baseball is the key to life-- the Rosetta Stone, if you will. If you just understood baseball better all your other questions your, your... the, uh... the aliens, the conspiracies they would all, in their way be answered by the baseball gods.

Dunno for sure
But, Rawlings hasn’t been making the MLB jerseys for a while now.

I have a rawlings jersey
A’s home white, circa 1988 or 89.
The fit is slightly different than the current model.

Yeah, it's probably from the 1990s.

Looks like
That was a little after the ones from the World Series time, at least after 1989.

well that’s pretty cool. i really don’t care about how old it is; the guy said it’s only been worn a few times and an authentic for $10 sounds like a good deal to me

Yeah
It’s just the reason I know is because the ones from the World Series timeframe had Rawlings spelled out on the sleeve instead of the “R” logo, and the “A” in the script didn’t have that little curl below the top one. If you check photos from back then it can at least help narrow down when they started using this version.

my personal experience
is that the jerseys that are too big haven’t shrunk, no matter what I do. I have one jersey that is a little small, and I only hand wash it because if it shrinks I can’t use it.
My experience with clothing is
You can’t really expect any common cloth to shrink down 4 whole inches.

True, but other things can shrink 4 inches though
