Olney Says Willingham Definitely To Be Traded
Buster says that the A's are going to trade the Compliant Pig at some point. Hopefully last night's ginormous bomb helps that trade value.
The real question is: What do the A's get back in return? Assuming that he is not packaged with another player, let's throw out some names that we could expect and then reply by calling everyone else's trade proposals ridiculous and homerish.
My guess - straight up for Domonic Brown.

Buster also says that the Diamondbacks might be interested in Ziegler
My guess is some sort of package for Brandon Allen or Paul Goldschmidt. If it was a 1 for 1 then maybe Ryan Wheeler?

What Olney said was Josh would be traded at some point
He also said the Phillies were turning their attention away from adding a bat to adding relievers, specifically from the Padres.

There's always a possibility that Beane
Doesn’t get a trade offer to his liking for Willingham.

for some reason the Phillies are reportedly more interested in the Padres' relievers
of course that’s only what’s been reported.
If the A's got Domonic Brown for Willingham
I would be quite pleased.

Does it benefit the A's to trade him, or get the draft picks assuming he ends up type A?
Every man for himself...
He's more likely to end up Type A somewhere else
Better lineup=more RBI and not hitting half the time in Oakland can only be good for his numbers. The way I see it, he’s more valuable to another team than to us. They trade for him, get the draft picks, and make the playoffs. They give us something slightly more valuable than the two picks in return.

They're not going to trade him unless the prospect(s) are worth sacrificing draft picks.
If the prospects are better than the average value of whatever draft pick they get, then yeah, it’s to the A’s benefit to trade Willingham.
There's also the possibility that the draft picks
will not be renewed nor grandfathered in the new CBA.
