This is my first fanpost, and i hope i do pretty well on it, just thought i would let all of you know in advance if i make any mistakes!
I'm consider myself an optimist, and i do believe we have a chance to make the playoffs this year, and I willl focus on who I believe Melvin should put in the lineup on certain days.
more after the jump (i have always wanted to say that!)
against righties, sweeney and DDj excel, while against lefties, both underperform...
as a result, i think we should ALWAYS have AT LEAST one of those two in the outfield against righties, while crisp, willingham, and matsui man their respective positions..For the meantime, i belive they should both play against righties with Josh Willingham still out for at least another couple days.
Against lefties, Melvin should insert crisp and matsui in the outfield, along with Conor Jackson, since we could then put rosales/powell at 1b and carter at DH (matsui and carter would be interchangeable)...When Willingham returns, he would then assume cojack's spot. who would resume his activities at 1b...
This all my thoughts and I think Melvin should at least try this for a couple days...
Also, i think Melvin mishandles the bullpen, just a little, but compared to Geren's usage, Melivin is perfect!
If a starter goes 6 in a close game, if there are 2 righties/lefties in each inning, he should go devine, wuertz, bailey...
however since ziegler and fuentes are effective only agaisnt a righty/lefty, they could combine for an inning, if there are 2 righties/lefties batting in a row...
i really do think we can make the postseason, if we are 4-5 back at ASG, since Beane will hopefully make a trade (a package of :willingham, Josh donaldson, Eric Sogard/Adrian Cardenas)?, for the best availabe player we can get
