If you haven't already heard, BOB GEREN, was relieved of his managerial duties today and he has been replaced with, probably, imo, the best managerial candidate in baseball, Bob Melvin.
Melvin is a famous tinkerer who can take a team to 93 wins or 93 losses depending on how his team performs in his system. This is the guy who earned the nickname "The Mad Scientist" from Mark Grace for his tinkering and many A's fans think that this is exactly what this team needs. That is a fresh start and fresh approach.
This brings me to the first mater at hand: WHAT will Bob Melvin's lineup look like tonight? Knowing that he has had less than 24 hours to get it together, what do you think he will do?
My guess looks like this:
This top 4 reminds me of the 1986 Mets that had Dykstra, Backman, Strawberry and Carter 1-4 and this is the Top 4 that I would use every day anyway.
Matsui and Suzuki can try and clean up the runners if Willingham K's and then Barton, Sizemore and Weeks try to get on base for the top of the order again. I think that Weeks should be the second leadoff, which is typically #9, but by hitting Barton 9th, it makes Crisp the second #3 hitter. Mad enough for you? Or would you prefer?
What is your Mad Scientist Line-Up?
