Have you read J.G. Ballard’s Crash? Totally crazy over-the-top shit. I can see why some people think it’s the worst thing ever written, but there’s a certain charm to the whole “wow, could you be any more fucked up than that?” reaction.

i remember reading it and i remember the movie, and all while a lit major with an interest in novel/film translations, but i don’t remember—at all!—if it fit or not. this proto-punk/new wave gem encapsulates the novel pretty well though: warm leatherette.
