This will be taking place behind Section 121, from the time the gates open at 5:30 through the fifth inning. Proceeds benefit Josh Willingham's foundation for Alabama tornado relief. Mrs. McCarthy has been Tweeting pictures of some of the baskets and they all look terrific. If you're not following Mrs.McCarthy then you're so unhip that your pants are falling down and you won't be able to board a plane at SFO, but you can see her Tweets by clicking above. You can also donate to the foundation directly, of course, but why not get some awesome swag as well? It's just like a pledge drive!
Berry Jo posted a great diary about the fine charitable efforts being organized by the A's wives and sweethearts, and particularly Amanda McCarthy, the Nora to Brandon McCarthy's Nick (at least on Twitter, and I would imagine they continue the witty repartee in their non-digital lives as well). But Berry Jo has been living it up out East and the diary has fallen off the Rec List. So here's a reminder that tomorrow, Friday, the first game of the epic battle between good and evil, is also the day that the A's domestic partners will be conducting an auction of baskets containing things which represent the players in some way, including autographed items. Follow me past the jump for details.
For those of you who are going to the game tomorrow, please remember that due to the virtually sold-out status and the unfortunate presence of the ill-clad mass of fans of Them. From There, both traffic and transit could be pretty awful. BART is your best bet; parking attendants will be directing cars to specific places in the lots and tailgating will only be allowed in the traffic lanes once everyone has parked. In other words, No Fun. Of course, Gnats fans probably don't know about the VIP Lot, but even that might be crowded. So leave plenty of time, in order to get there to bid on a basket!
