introduce : Dae-ho Lee
Hello, I'm A's fan in Seoul, South Korea.
me and my friend worry about Oakland's batting.
introduce Dae-ho Lee.

He was born June 21, 1982 in Busan, South Korea.
He bats and throws right-handed
6 feet 3 inch, 230 pounds
I think he'll replace Kouz.
and maybe Jack Cust's right-hand version. (Defense : Lee > Cust)
After this season, Lee gets qualified Free Agent (Oversea)
I want to inform Beane of Lee's information. :)
Last summer, Dae-ho Lee sets world record with 9 consecutive-game home runs.
9 consecutive-game home run Mix (By Demianblue)
Since making his Korean league debut in 2001, Lee currently has career-high batting average, RBIs, and home runs of .367, 111, and 38 at 394 bats, respectively. He stands atop in the hitting average, and the slugging percentage of .685. Lee’s career record is a .303 average with 704 RBIs at 3,600 at-bats
(16, April. 2011)
Last year, Lee won his second career triple crown by leading the league in batting average(.364), homers(44) and RBIs(133).
The Giant is noted for sweeping seven titles (except Steal) in the batter’s stats for the first-time ever in the league, along with a nine-straight game home run streak.
After 2010 season ended, Lee Dae Ho negotiated his annual salery with his team, Lotte Giants. Lee Dae Ho wanted 700 million won(about $ 0.7M) , but Lotte Giants claimed that he should get 630 million won(about $ 0.63M). Lee Dae Ho gave several reasons why he should get 700 million won for his annual salery. To begin with, he received the 1st place on seven titles of batting and made homeruns in 9 games in a row, so that there was marketing impact.
He was member of the WBC 2009, and Beijing Olympic 2008.
He is Shin-soo Choo(Indians) 's friend since they were Elemetary Student.
Team Korea earn Gold medal in Olympic 2008. He was not forced to go into the Korean military like Choo.
He plays 1B, 3B, DH
Last year, he played 3B. (Manager Jerry Royster's request) - season Error 11.

I'm usually skeptical of overseas free agents in the Asian Leagues
But two career triple crowns? That’s pretty tempting.

He's all muscle it looks like
He’s just overpowering pitches; he’s hitting 400 foot bombs on pitches at his feet. I wonder how well that skill translates to american baseball.

I wonder if Edgar Gonzaleos has pitched against him recently
last i heard he was wallowing in this league.

the greatest Fanpost ever created.

nice to know that while we here in America sleep, someone on the other side of the world is taking up the mantle of worry for us.

Fucking awesome.
And I agree; let’s sign this dude. Couldn’t hurt, right?

Looks Like An Interesting Guy
The kind of hitter who can hit 30 homers, knock in 90-100 runs and hit for a high average. Basically, the kind of hitter the A’s need. Hopefully his strong performance will carry over to the U.S.A.
However, if we go after him, we don’t want to have another Iwakuma story. If we can’t agree on the contract with him fairly soothly, then we should calm down and not hopelessly pursue him.
Still, he would be a great addition, but with those kind of stats, I’m skeptical about his salary and whether the A’s would pay him what he’s worth, or what he wants.
I would ask about his D, but with Kouz playing the way he is, I don;t think we can do much worse.

How much are you willing to give him since it seems like he is earning 7m a year in Korea what is his incentive to move stateside unless you give up a bunch.

I believe the post says 7M won (not dollars)
Quick google search turned up 1 won = .0009 US dollars. So I doubt you would have to give up a bunch.
Don't sweat it. I'm illiterate.

I'd like to hear more about his defense...
because physically he looks like 1B/DH and we have plenty of those.
Fanpost is great though! Are there any CF’s who can hit like crazy over there?
Same
If he can play third base well, that would be great.
by Oakland Fan 007 on Apr 17, 2011 10:06 AM PDT up reply actions
There's no way this guy can play third
Look at how enormous his upper body is. Is it worth a try though? Maybe. We’re 9-10 with an ERA of 2.52. Something’s gotta change (and I’m ok with just staying the course and hoping for the luck to change).
John 3:16
I gotta say...
those 2010 numbers, if we had them, I would love it.
A metric crap-ton of big umpire mess-ups this season.
Awesome fanpost!
I am curious you became an A’s fan in Seoul? I would think that there are bigger MLB brands with far greater international reach than the A’s.
Dude looks like an Asian Brett Wallace...
At one point in my life I liked Dave Kingman more than Rickey Henderson. I was stupid.
Sounds like Brett Wallace as well. I wonder if he can really play 3B

great insight!
안녕하세요 from usa. I’m a korean a’s fan in the states. Thanks for providing us with a profile for Lee Dae-ho… While his stats in KBO is certainly fantastic, like other’s have mentioned, how that translate to MLB remains quite a mystery. While KBO is a good and progressing league, it’s still quite a ways from MLB.
I think his chances of making it here is really up to him to swallow his pride and accept a minor league offer like Lee Seung Yeop was offered because I believe that’s all he’ll get from any major league teams. (I’m not saying that’s what he deserves or not…) At his age and status that he currently holds in korea, will he be willing to start all over again to prove himself in MLB? I don’t know…
It's interesting that of all the S. Koreans that have played in MLB, the only position players are Shin-Soo Choo...
…who’s pretty damned good, and Hee Seop Choi, who flamed out.

Choi had a career 106 OPS+. I wouldn't say he "flamed out". It's not like he was Bob Crosby or anything.

True, I guess it's more in him being out of the league in the States after age 26
Guessing he went back to S. Korea?

Ya, for the Kia Tigers apparently
He seems to be a better hitter than Lee.

also note...
that majority if not all of them were signed as prospects before they made it to the show rather than a current major leaguer from a different league.
Yes, I'm the best player in the entire South Korea and my dream is to play for the Oakland A's.
what is the probabiliy this statement is true?
Oakland is nothing compared to LA
with regards to the strength of the Korean community. Also, I had always assumed Koreans only cared about the teams that had star Koreans in it (i.e. Indians), and any team that allowed Park Chan Ho to pitch.
HERE’S HOPING THE A’S GET ONE SO I CAN TALK ABOUT IT WITH MY RELATIVES!!!

I recall DemianBlue's past FanPosts regarding Korean talent
It’s great to see organizations looking past Japan for talent, and it’s great to have such an enthusiastic person providing the news.
Someone should interview Demian or have a column about international AN members.
