Thought I would add a quick update on how our boys are doing in the Minors. Thanks to Kyle B for setting us up with stats over the last few days. Over the first week and half, we have some guys in our system that are either really really hot right now, or really really cold. Here we go...
Sacramento: 2-5, Lost their last 3
L, 5-6 to Las Vegas
Weeks 2B: 1-4, R, 2B, K .370
Carter LF: 0-3, 2 BB, K .125 (Carter is now 3-24 on the season with 9Ks. Not a promising start for a guy repeating a level.
Cardenas 3B: 2-4, 2 R, 2B, .455 (He really needed to get off to a fast start this year, especially with his early struggles in AAA last year. He's done that. 10-22 to start with 3 XBH...Would rather see him get some AB over kouz right now.)
Miller Ja, CF: 2-3, 2 R, 2B, .300
Outman: 2 IP, 5 H, 4 ER, 2 BB, 3 Ks 7.5 ERA (To be expected, will take some time to get back his control.)
Midland: 5-1, Off last night
Through 6 games...
Spina: 10-23, 4 2B, HR, 6 RBI, 3 K .435 (Really nice start for this guy. Reminds me of Everidge with his power and potential BB ability.)
Parker: 8-21, 4 R, 3 2B, 3B, HR, 3 RBI, .381 5:3 BB:K (I really like this guy. It's nice to know we have some depth in the system at 3B with Parker and Cardenas off to hot starts.)
Green: 7-26, 3B, HR, 6 RBI, .269 (Has cooled down a little bit over the last few games going 2-15.)
Guys to also pay attention to are Barfield, Sulentic, and Peterson. The last two are batting over .300 early on, and Barfield is showing a good eye and has hit his first HR.
Stockton: 4-3, Last night: W, 8-5 over Visalia
Coleman SS: 3-6, R, 3 K .250 (this is his first action in over a year. Will be interesting to see his progress in his first season in high A ball.)
Choice CF: 2-5, 2 R, HR, 3 RBI, BB, 3 K .222 (That's two 3-run HRs in back to back games--that's good. The bad is the 11Ks to start the season in 27 ABs. He does have 6 BB to go along, so he's showing that good patience.)
Stassi C: 0-4, 2 BB, 2 K. .304 (Showing good patience to start the year with a 6:4 BB:K. I'm excited about this guy.)
Dixon RF: 0-4, BB .095 (that's not a good start to say the least, currently 2-21. Dixon wants the season to start over.)
Straily SP: 5 IP, 5 H, ER, 3 BB, 2 K 2.00 ERA (24th Rnd pick in '09. Decent start to high A ball. Not going real deep in games yet.)
Burlington: 5-2, Last game W, 8-7 over Peoria
Landaeta LF: 3-5, R, HR, 5 RBI, K .400 (He's off to a ridiculous start this season. FA signing out of Venezuela, 22 years old. Is 12-30 on the season with 5 XBH and 10 RBI. I'll be watching his progress all year.)
Thompson 1B: 1-3, R, HR, RBI, .481 (splitting time between First and Third. 13-27 start to the season reminds you that he won the Triple Crown in the Big 12. Has 2 HR and 7 RBI on the season. If this was Kane County, you'd be like, holy crap--but I'm not sure what the stadium is like in Burlington. If people know if it hits better than Kane County, please let us know.)
Consigli CF: 0-4, 2 K .435 (I'm surprised when I don't see two hits in his line every night. That's how hot he started this season. While our boy from Canada hasn't shown much power, just 1 3B, he is 10-23 to start the season. He'll be a fun one to watch to see if he can show the strong numbers he had in the AZL last year, just 19 years old.)
Bowman SP: 5 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 2BB, 4.00 era
Hope ya'll have a great day. Forgive any grammar errors.....
