"Latest NASCAR Headlines From SB Nation"?!?
More crap I have no interest in, pushing stuff I do have interest in (you know, stuff about the A's) further down off the page.
Stupid and unwanted.

Great, a fucking fanshot bitching about something so minor,
and pushing stuff I do have interest in further down the page. Great fucking job.

Really? What did this fan shot push down the page?
Oh, a fan shot from 14 days ago, that was about the super bowl, that had one comment. Truly sorry about that.
Also, censor your swearing dude. This is a family site.

And also...
I don’t consider an animated scrolling spam window “minor”. It’s worse than that Absolut countdown ad was, in that it’s bigger, pushing the list of recent Fan Posts off the screen, and it’s more distracting.
Anyway, I think mine is a valid complaint. Yours is just you being an ass because you feel like it.
And either my AdBlock finally worked on that window, or someone else noticed how distracting it was too and took it down. Because it’s gone now. So, yay.

Disagree

False. I am a fan of NASCAR and a fan of the A’s. The two are not mutually exclusive.

That's cool.
I still think it was an inappropriate placement on the AN front page. Non-A’s and non-baseball links shouldn’t get top billing.

Where exactly was this? The only times I've ever seen links to other SBN sites was in the very top bar.
Right now, that area is blank.
And really, it’s not like they’re advertising some company who is paying for it; it’s to let you know other things that are going on in the SBN family.

It was at the top right of the main AN page...
Below the “New/Edit/View” stuff, but above the FanPost column.

Reply fail.
Also, yeah, I overreacted.

In the normal ad spot?
Maybe you don’t usually see stuff there if you have AdBlocker. I’ve never seen SBN ads there before though. Weird.

I saw it there this morning and I have AdBlocker
Right above the FanPosts. It also looked like some kind of livestream for posts on other SBN sites. Before long it was gone again.

Yep. It was only there in the AM on the 18th
And appeared to actually provide links to other SBN sites while having nothing whatsoever to do with NASCAR…
AdBlocker can only block ads which appear via an offsite connect. If they are part of the site, they appear, so it came from SBN. The only weird part is the headline about NASCAR…

Not really weird.
The Daytona 500 is this weekend, and they’re probably trying to raise awareness for their NASCAR blogs.

I actually don't mind seeing something that provides links to other SBN sites
There’s always the chance I might see something interesting (say, an interview) that I’d have missed. Occasionally stuff like that has been run at the very top of the page in the site bar, but lately it’s been more for advertising stuff like Absolut’s NFL thing.
I don’t mind seeing some things that promote other areas of SBN, but not at the expense of pushing our own content further down AN’s page.
