So i was on my way to class at Laney College tonight and got handed this flyer about the "Lake Merritt Station Area Plan."
Here is some verbage from the website lake merritt:
"The City of Oakland, BART and the Peralta Community College District, through a grant from the Metropolitan Transportation Commission, have come together to prepare a Station Area Plan for the area around the Lake Merritt BART Station. The Plan will consider land use, buildings, design, circulation, BART improvements, streetscape improvements, parks and public spaces. It will identify actions the City and the other public agencies should take to improve the area, and it will establish regulations for development projects on private property. The project also involves the preparation of an Environmental Impact Report for the Station Area Plan."
Anywho, the first Community Workshop specifically involves the area around the Victory Court site and will solicit feedback from the community about the how the area should be developed into the future.
So what better way to call upon the Oakland A's faithful to at least put in their two cents (or at least crash and turn it into an AN party!):
WHAT: Lake Merrit Station Area Plan
WHEN: Saturday February 26th from 9am-12:30pm
WHERE: at the Laney College Student Center/Cafeteria 900 Fallon St. (@9th St.)
WHY: to get the latest on the victory court site AND THEIR WILL BE FREE FOOD!!!!! (ok, maybe it says a 'light breakfast' but who doesn't love free generic brand muffins and watered down coffee??? am i right?!?)
