Yes, this network which started with this site seven years ago just added Rob Neyer to our stable of writers. You can read his first column here, which is simply pitch perfect for why AN was started and why this network even exists today.
On a personal note, Neyer was a big inspiration for me. He always took some of the more complex elements to evaluating baseball players and made it something worth digesting. In fact, it was something I was eager to seek out. I had always hoped that AN would start a revolution in media coverage and fill that hole that existed. There were too few Rob Neyers in the world when AN started and my goal was to one day bring more and more to the forefront.
I believe SB Nation has done exactly that. It's exposed a great deal more people to the Jeff Sullivans, Grant Brisbees and Adam Morris' of the world. So many talented fans who loved their teams and wrote about them out of passion and knowledge that was second to none. And the beauty is that Rob Neyer will not only bring his fantastic writing and reputation with him to SB Nation, but he will also bring more exposure to that outstanding group of writers, many of whom have been at this since I started recruiting others to join AN in SB Nation back in late 2004. He's already a trending topic in Twitter which means more and more people will be reading our sites which is the ultimate goal. It's to bring the voice of the fan in a professional fashion to everyone.
Please join me in welcoming Rob to our network. I hope you'll enjoy reading his work here as much as you have for many years elsewhere.
