SB Nation Bay Area Editor's Pick
more more more. how do you like it, how do you like it. yearbook covers 1986 - 2010.
great memories here. the pictures of the coliseum from the 1986 issue, for example, are gorgeous. i moved to the bay area in the 70's. walking into the coliseum for the first time from the bart station ramp, peeking through the in need of an repairs wood and metal fence at the field and seats was, well, love at first sight. i had been to many stadia before my first visit to oakland:. fenway, wrigley, yankee, shea, dodger, angels, twins metropolitan. ours was the most beautiful of all.

This post (as well as your last collection of covers) is outstanding.
There’s something to be said about the glorification of the muscular Canseco/McGwire/Giambi and MLB’s current semi-official policy of pretending that the the steroids era was all the players’ fault.
Well done, oakath.

Well hellloooooooo 2006.
I gotta say though, I really love the illustrated covers, like way more than the photo covers. I’d love to see them to a retro throwback yearbook.
All flash no substance hair twirler.
Thanks so much for doing this again, oakath...
The Stew stare cover is one of my favorites. I have it framed on my wall.
At one point in my life I liked Dave Kingman more than Rickey Henderson. I was stupid.

OOOO
I had several of these from the late 80’s-early 90’s. I think it was when I could go to games on my own and buy my own tickets that I stopped buying the magazine.
Gates is actually pretty cool...
He’s the baseball coach at my old high school in Michigan.
