New Thread mojo for the home stretch. The bad guys are winning, 5-3. It seems like it should have been a lot worse.

Oh, yeah

I’d so sit near her awkwardly and try to work up the courage to hold her hand. And totally pay for an expensive dinner.

Last time our boys wore their pretty pink armbands,

good things happened. So we should be able to at least get a win today. Right?

Right.

by Joey C. on Sep 5, 2010 3:11 PM PDT reply actions

Raj stole second, but the hit and run was on

He slid in head first, didn’t see that Pennington got a base knock. He tried to get up and go to third but got gunned down from right field.

Help me here!!

Why no interference on That ??

"Are those new tarps? Or did they paint 'em?" Mark Ellis

by Berry Jo on Sep 5, 2010 3:13 PM PDT via mobile reply actions

no touch

it’s a judgment call. If Rajai pulls his head out of ass and doesn’t slide he is sitting on 3rd base.

by jeffro on Sep 5, 2010 3:14 PM PDT up reply actions

Nowhere in any rule book is touching required

It IS a judgment call, but the umpire made a bad call there. Letter of the law says that play is obstruction. Davis can STILL be called out if the umpire feels he wouldn’t have gotten to third anyway. To signal safe and not call obstruction when a fielder clearly got in the way is a blown call (which is separate from whether Rajai would’ve been safe at third).

by thejd44 on Sep 5, 2010 3:15 PM PDT up reply actions

That should probably be obstruction

First, no contact is needed. All a fielder has to do is slow a runner down or otherwise impeded his path. Davis had 2 or 3 steps taken away because of the fielder getting in the way, and that might have been the difference between safe and out.

2B out flat out blew that call.
