Game Thread: Oakland Athletics v. LAA of A, Game 3 of 3 (Broom Handy?)
Los Angeles Angels at Oakland Athletics, Sep 5, 2010 1:05 PM PDT
Is a sweep in the cards? The A's send Vin Mazzaro to face long time nemesis Ervin Santana under a bright blue sky in Oakland.
"I believe you are surrounded," Bill says.
"MEMEHREHEHHHHH," trumpets Stomper.
"That's elephant for, 'I borrowed Barbie's broom for the day,'" Roy chimes in.
"GULP!" goes Scioscia.

Something to think about...
Dave Stewart, who went 21-12 with a 3.23 ERA in 1988 for the 104-win A’s, would be tied for the third-best ERA on today’s pitching staff, trailing Cahill and Gonzalez, tied with Braden.

Mazzaro sucks
The guy is garbage.
I called both these home runs before they happened.
He looks awful, throws awful and should be in AAA or on someone else’s team.
He hangs breaking pitches, grooves fastballs or misses the zone by a foot.
You hear of hitters waiting for the mistake. In his case you wait for him to throw a good pitch. There are not many.
I may be venting but I cannot stand this guy as he is. He’s a headcase,
All of this is true, but the next option is Boof or Clayton

I'd probably go with a running back, but I think it depends on how your league does the scoring and where you're picking.
I picked fourth in my league with my school friends and took Ray Rice. We start two quarterbacks, two tight ends, three running backs, four wide receivers and a kicker and defense each.

I'm using the same system.....I'm 8th on my online draft
and 4th on my draft with my friends which is the one I really care about.
But seriously,folks....
You didn't ask me...
… but you can still score a pretty good QB in the middle rounds. Reliable RBs seem to be in much shorter supply.
"I've made a huge little mistake." - G.O.B.
I'll take advice from any of you smart people
I’m leaning towards a RB right now
But seriously,folks....
I used my first two picks on running backs.
I took Ray Rice fourth and Rashard Mendenhall 17th. My league starts three and I took Joseph Addai in the sixth round (57th overall).

I took Vincent Jackson in the 16th round.
I figured it was a risk worth taking. I already took Marion Barber and Fred Jackson as backup running backs and had a backup wide receiver.

Barber isn't bad, as he will score TDs
Jackson always scares me because he seems so ancient.
"I've made a huge little mistake." - G.O.B.
I like Rice quite a bit....he should be there when I pick 4th
One of my friends who is picking second always takes a QB first.
But seriously,folks....
I might still take Rice over Jones-Drew.
Rice had over 2,000 yards from scrimmage last year, but Jones-Drew had 15 rushing touchdowns. It’s close.

The guy is a horrible "x's and o's" coach
but you have to hope that improved recruiting will make up for it. They nearly recruited an entire offensive line in 1-week but they are all verbals.
I don’t think the guy is very intelligent from his press conferences. He just stood there and did nothing yesterday. Make an adjustment for God sakes. 1st down- run. 2nd down- run. 3rd and long- no chance = punt. Moving Toben Opurum to defense when he is the best offensive player on the team is ridiculous.
