Good stuff
Also nice to see how good he is at laying off pitches out of the zone and getting ahead in the count.

I'm developing quite a man-crush on Barton.
Unless some terrible injury happens to him or he goes the way of Dan Johnson, Oakland has quite a good player on their hands––and one that, because he doesn’t have a “traditional” first baseman stat line, won’t be terribly expensive but still quite valuable. Also, here’s to hoping that he goes down the Kevin Youkilis developmental path and grows into some power.
I don't think
he projects to hit 25+ homers – did Youk project for that much power? I’m perfectly happy if Barton settles into the 15 homer range while giving up plus defense and a really patient bat. Now we just need some semblance of power from the corner OF and we’ll be golden…
Thanks for sharing the good vibes
I have really become a fan of Barton and I always feel like he’s going to do something good when he comes to the plate. I think next year, hopefully with some solid bats behind him in the order, Barton will start to see some better pitches to hit and if that happens, he could be scary good. Power or no power, the man can hit a baseball and he’s only getting better.
go A’s!
