Poll: Will 2010 Be a Winning Season for the A's?
If I had cherished any hope that A's might still win the division this year, it would have been dashed after the 4-game sweep suffered at the hands of the Yankees. The truth is, I came to the conclusion two years ago that, as long as Bob Geren remains the manager, the A's will never make the playoffs. In fact, forget about the playoffs, I'm starting to think that the A's might not even have a winning season with Geren.
But, it could be just me focusing on the negative. So I'd like to get some input from everyone. What's your outlook on the A's season and their future with Geren?

I believe 2007 was Geren's best year
I think he got to 65-64 (August 23rd 2007) before the floor dropped out.
Here are the previous three Septembers for Geren-managed Athletics:
2007= 9 wins 17 losses
2008= 12 wins 12 losses (after a 10-20 August)
2009= 17 wins 10 losses
…so the Athletics have been improving in September games, but statistically there is no cause and effect regarding the month and the record IMO. More of an outcome determined by the scheduling gods. Lotsa Cleveland and Texas helped in 2009.
When Geren’s A’s reached 65 wins:
2007 August 23rd (65-64)
2008 September 6th (65-77)
2009 September 14th (65-78)
2010 August 29th (65-64)
Blez: Most folks seem to believe that the big flaw with the 2010 Oakland A's will be the lack of any power.
Beane: They believe it because it's true.

2007
was also the season that Beane decided to sell when we were only 4.5 games out of 1st and 9 games over .500; can’t put that one on Geren.

September was the only thing that made the '09 team semi-respectable.
I don’t think they were as good as their final record suggested.
I've come to the conclusion that the two most important things in life are good friends and a good bullpen.

The September schedule doesn't look promising at all
Against other divisions, we’ll be playing all contenders (or at lest teams above .500) except KC; Against our own division, our record is just about even. We are 3 games below .500 right now, so I don’t see how we can have a winning record at the end.
In the battle of the strong, victory goes to the brave.
OK, who voted no?
I want names and addresses
I hate Bob Geren and his peanut brain so much -- lenscrafters
