Outfielder Ryan Sweeney has chosen not to have surgery on his left knee, saying an operation surely would have sidelined him for the start of next season.
He's been bothered by tendinitis in both knees, and he had season-ending surgery on his right knee in early August. But Sweeney said an MRI confirmed his left knee is in better condition than his right knee was before surgery. He's hopeful that rehab and treatment will eliminate much of the pain.
