GOG 51: ITS THE RANGERS. LAST HOME SERIES.
3 wins by the A's keeps all the bubbly in the bottles as the Rangers won't clinch. Of course, since FJM had their reunion yesterday, there may be things scattered in the GOG.
60 points possible.
1- Does the bubbly stay in the bottles: in other words, series outcome? (4 points)
2- Obligatory draft position question. Where are the A's ranked in the standings (1 = worst team) after this series? (2 points)
3- Cliff Lee is very good. Predict his IP, H, K, BB, and ER. (1 point each, 5 total)
4- Obligatory WPA question. One NON-PITCHING player with a positive WPA, one with a negative WPA, and one with exactly zero WPA, from each team. (so 6 answers total, 2 points apiece, so 12 points possible)
5- So, Chris Carter the Burninator has a HR now!!!! Predict his PA, H, K, BB, and RBI. (1 apiece, 5 possible)
6- The run is very, very neglected and is an underrated statistical measure of a player's value. Which individual player for the A's has the most RBI on the series? (3 points possible)
7- Now, y'all know that the criteria for AL MVP award are as follows: beloved, respected, a Yankee, and done something another Yankee had once done. However, in 2010, one Cliff Pennington has accumulated more WAR, some statistic that I'm sure the BBWAA would banish if possible, than the beloved Derek Jeter. What's Pennington's PA, H, BB, and K (2 points apiece, 8 possible)
8- The A's hitters have lots of "negative numbers." Like David Eckstein, and its good that he ignores them. Name one A"s hitter who gets into a double play this series (3 points)
9- LAST HOME SERIES. Last opportunity to have some walk-offs this season. Do the A's walk off during the course of this series? (2 points)
10- Guess the MOST (each question: 3 points if you get exact number, 2 points if you're within +/- 1). (15 points possible):
1- RUNZ the A's score in any game.
2- Runs (earned and unearned) any individual starting pitcher on the A's gives up
3- Runs (earned and unearned) any individual SP on the Rangers gives up
4- Stolen bases in one game
5- Runs TOTAL scored in any one game.

Don't forget to report your previous GOG
And I know I’ve kinda conceded but that doesn’t mean I can’t secretly try to catch up. You got a 15 I think, btw.

I take it that #4 refers to ANY player, calculated over the ENTIRE series.
It would have been nice to exclude Hamilton & Crisp as possible answers for the .000. I went with other players, just for fun. I don’t think I’m going to roll out of 5th place this season, as doctorK stays just ahead of me every week.
Your poem here.
I didn't expect people to put down injured players.
It’s any player, calculated over the entire series, but I assumed injured players wouldn’t be put down as answers. I should’ve said something like “no injured players”, but alas. It’s fine though, alls fair in love and GOG.
Mea culpa.
But then, I’ll be shocked if Josh Donaldson gets even one PA because Geren is stupid.
Needs moar dingerz.
The problem is that the only way to get a zero WPA is to not play
The chances of playing and having it end up at zero are tiny. And I know Crisp is not going to play and I would be shocked if Hamilton came back this series, and neither of them is on the DL, so they are still on the active roster…

It's all good, you did what was appropriate. I woulda done the same if I was protected a slim lead in first!
I’m just gonna try to slip one by. Sometimes those late inning replacements can end up at .000 even with a PA, if the game’s not close.

Way OT... Log-in changes?
Did something recently change on AN? For a week or so I now have to log in every time I open my browser. I checked my browser settings and they’re still the same. Other sites I frequent keep me logged in. Only AN makes me re-log-in every time. It does this on both of my computers, which also suggests it’s not me.
Thanks.
I've come to the conclusion that the two most important things in life are good friends and a good bullpen.

Draft Ranking, Answer(s) to #2
.
The Draft Ranking Question, it turns out, was either sort of ambiguous or else was very specific but required a lot more information than was presented. Here are three ways to interpret the question, each of which has a different answer:
(1) How far from the bottom, based on win/loss record, were the A’s?
(2) According to the Draft regulations, in which a tie is broken according to the previous years’ record, where do the A’s fall in the currently established draft order?
(3) According to the actual list of draft picks – which includes compensatory draft picks – in what position will the A’s select their 2011 first round pick?
The answers to this question, respectively, are:
(1) In a tie for 14th, with Florida;
(2) Alone in 15th, since Florida had a worse 2009 record than the A’s; and
(3) All the way at 18th, since there are three teams that will select earlier than the A’s based on compensatory picks (unable to sign their 2010 pick).
To tell you the truth, I had no idea the question was so complicated when I read this question, and only later discovered the Reverse Standings site that is mentioned on the FP but not in the GOG. I had assumed this question was as simple as #1 (which puts me correct, but I’m not bothered one way or the other), even though it now appears that it properly refers either to #2 or #3.
Can we get some Blicks feedback on this? Thanks again for GOGging!
Your poem here.
Sorry guys!!!
Not including comp picks. I meant standings, not explicit draft order, so comp picks don’t count.
Anyone who said 14 or 15 gets it, since I didn’t mention the tiebreaker at all. I went back and replied to everyone’s post with scores.
Needs moar dingerz and moar Josh Donaldson.
