Vote for Bill King for the Frick Award
It's time once again to begin voting for the Ford C. Frick award to induct a baseball broadcaster into the Baseball Hall Of Fame for 2011.
And we all want to see Bill King in the Hall of Fame for next year (reply to this post to rag on all "homer" announcers)
This year the first round (top 10 choices) are done through a Facebook Poll. You must have a Facebook account to vote. Go to http://facebook.com/ > Login > Poll > Bill King > Vote

Try to cast a vote each day!
You can vote once per day and the vote totals are cleared out each day (presumably cumulative totals will be use to get into Round Two). The result display on the http://www.facebook.com/baseballhall site is misleading, go to this site for a better look at the day’s results:

Vote for Bill King!!
It appears that Tom Cheek is running away with the Fan voting… He is getting like triple or quadruple the number of fan votes as anyone is else is receiving, and from what i can tell from the results each day it appears that Bill King is teh second choice amongst the fans and everyone else is way behind. I was looking at the profiles that they have posted on Facebook for each anouncer.
Bill King’s bio is wrong on the site, it says that he retired from broadcasting in 2005, here is the bio from the Facebook page:
BILL KING: 25 years (A’s. 1981-2005), all with the A’s as the lead radio play-by-play man, and retired…Has spent five decades thrilling fans with his vivid descriptions of some of the most historical moments in the annals of three of the Bay Area’s major sports franchises – the San Francisco/Golden State Warriors, the Oakland/Los Angeles Raiders and the A’s…Was stationed on the island of Guam at the end of World War II when he began his broadcasting career with the Armed Forces Radio Network…Launched his sportscasting career in the late 1940’s in Pekin, Ill., broadcasting minor league baseball, along with high school football and basketball games…Passed away Oct. 18, 2005.
Apparantly his number one competion is this guy, Tom Cheek, who appears to be running away with the fan voting, here is his bio from the site:
TOM CHEEK: 31 years (Expos, 1974-76; Blue Jays, 1977-2004) and retired…Spent the final 28 years of his career with the Blue Jays as radio play-by-play man…When forced to retire during the 2004 season because of a brain tumor, was the only person to had worked every Blue Jays game…Broadcast for the Baseball Network, 1994-95…Called many post season games on Canada radio for Telemedia…Play-by-play experience includes baseball, basketball, football and hockey for the University of Vermont…From 1974 to 1976 was the swing man on Montreal Expos radio broadcasts on television nights…Member of the broadcast team for ABC Sports at the 1980 Winter Olympics at Lake Placid and 1984 Olympics at Sarajevo…Has broadcast college basketball for Mutual Radio Network…Passed away Oct. 9, 2005.
I’m trying to figure out how this guy is getting so many fan votes….
There is no A in OFFENSE!!
Please correct me if I'm wrong
but didn’t Bill King win the fan voting twice already?
So why should we all continue to vote if apparently the votes do not count. Am I missing something here. Give me a good answer and I’ll begin voting.
