It makes me sick. The A's could have had an outfield right now of Nick Swisher, Carlos Gonzalez and Andre Ethier.
This was easily predictable for 2010, and the team spent $10M on a broken pitcher -- and got four wins out of him.
I've been an A's fan since 1974, but this is probably the most frustrated I have ever been as a fan. I mean, really: Matt Carson, Matt Watson, Gabe Gross, Coco Crisp and Rajai Davis as your outfielders?
Cust's surprising rebound in 2010 after a two-year decline into mediocrity is nice, but no one in this line-up scares an opposing pitcher. No one is a threat to go deep every time at the plate. No one is consistently good enough to even warrant praise.
It's nice the pitching staff shows so much promise and potential, but if Beane doesn't do something significant to improve the offense in 2011, it's time to call for his head.
(And to make it worse, the Giants' mediocre cast of hitters is on a 20-5 hot streak beyond comprehension.)
