Thought people might be up for some stadium porn since it's been a couple of years since A's fans have had any after Cisco Field Mark II in Fremont failed. Here I give you some of the first renderings of Cisco Field Mark III in San Jose.
This new San Jose design is a fairly stark contrast to the previous two designs from Cisco Field Mk2 Fremont and Cisco Field Mk1 Oakland respectively
I must say that as far as the latest design goes they've definitely taken some pages on the latest design from the newest stadium darling up in Minnesota. Less of the brick, "old time" look to it. However it's also got a somewhat Fenway like quality to it in that it would be shoehorned into that block necessitating a contoured right field that isn't just aesthetic but functional. The only real oddity to my mind is the faux brick building in left field on the new design. Seems like an unnecessary rip off of the Western Metal Supply building in San Diego. That and I liked the light standards built into the Mk2 design rather than the more integrated lights on the new design (however that may be a necessity due to the airport proximity in SJ). But overall I must say it's growing on me as a design. Particularly with the yellow seats in the upper deck under the roof to break up the monotony of the oft overused green seats.
