Missing Robert Buan's Post Game Show

Is it just me, or does anyone else miss Robert Buan doing the A's post-game show?  Granted, my sample size of listening to Chris "Towny" Townsend is small, but I listened for a bit after the game today and found myself really missing Robert Buan. I remember not feeling well when I read this news. Follow me after the jump for what I heard today.

I tuned in to 860 AM (KTRB) right around the time Ken and Vince were finishing up their post-game review and Towny came on for the post game call-in show ("A's Talk") and here is what I heard him say in the first 5 minutes of his show:

1) He said the A's won the game 3-1, when they had beaten the Indians 3-0. He later corrected himself and said that it was a 3-0 shut out. (Hey, everyone makes mistakes, right?)

2) He referred to the Rangers-White Sox game as about to "kick off in just a bit."

Now I don't know why this bothers me so much, but I think it's because I've always thought of the A's as "our little family" and Robert Buan was a part of that for me. Chris Townsend has a nationally syndicated sports radio show (Sports Overnight America) that is broadcast on Armed Forces Radio to over 500 stations in 177 countries. I think he also does the Chris Townsend Show in Sacramento.

I have a friend who has been a guest on Townsend's Sports ByLine show every now and then and I'm sure that Chris Townsend is a nice guy, but I can't help but get the feeling that his heart just isn't with the A's and the A's organization. It might be something that he can maybe grow into and I get that he's probably getting more listeners than Buan did due to his national profile, but I feel that it's a bit of a disservice to die hard A's fans when clearly, "Towny" seems to be spreading it a bit thin and the A's aren't his only gig.

Now it could be that this is his freshman stint with the organization and that he'll improve over time much like Vince Cotroneo finally stopped referring to the A's as the Rangers or Oakland as Texas in his first year broadcasting with Ken, but we'll have to wait to find out.  We're half-way through the baseball season and it seems like Towny can't wait for football to "kick off".

Ken Pries, please bring back Robert Buan. He can't do play-by-play to save his life (Buancasts), but he's a competent, smart and knowledgeable post-game call-in talk show host who has always showed a lot of respect for his callers and for the A's organization.
