Since this trade, Blanton has never had a season with an ERA under four. While Outman only pitched a fraction of a season for us (prior to Tommy John surgery) and Cardenas has yet to pan out, Spencer proved to be a solid prospect while in our organization.
At first glance, this appears to be a poor trade. Fox, Miles and Gray have each done very little thus far for their new clubs, although Spencer and Morla have both put up respective numbers in the Cub's minor league system.
As a reward for taking on Taveras' larger contract ($4,000,000 compared to Miles' $2,700,000), the Reds gave the A's Rosales, who has played all over the field and also put up reasonable offensive numbers.
Fox never found his groove with the A's, but he was still able to land a decent relief pitcher. Wolf had a 2.11 ERA with only one home run allowed (38.1 innings) in Triple-A prior to the trade. Do these stats remind anyone of Brad Ziegler?
