Billy Beane's Magic: Joe Blanton (Version 2)

This post is very similar to my post from earlier in the month, but it has been updated with the recent Jake Fox trade.

08 Trade Deadline:  A's trade Joe Blanton to the Phillies for Josh Outman, Adrian Cardenas and Matt Spencer.

Since this trade, Blanton has never had a season with an ERA under four.  While Outman only pitched a fraction of a season for us (prior to Tommy John surgery) and Cardenas has yet to pan out, Spencer proved to be a solid prospect while in our organization.

09/10 Off Season:  A's trade Jeff Gray, Matt Spencer and Ronny Morla to the Cubs for Jake Fox and Aaron Miles.  The Cubs pick up $1,000,000 of Aaron Miles' $2,700,000 contract.

At first glance, this appears to be a poor trade.  Fox, Miles and Gray have each done very little thus far for their new clubs, although Spencer and Morla have both put up respective numbers in the Cub's minor league system.

09/10 Off Season:  A's trade Aaron Miles to the Reds for Willie Taveras and Adam Rosales.

As a reward for taking on Taveras' larger contract ($4,000,000 compared to Miles' $2,700,000), the Reds gave the A's Rosales, who has played all over the field and also put up reasonable offensive numbers.

10 Mid Season:  A's trade Jake Fox to the Orioles for Ross Wolf.

Fox never found his groove with the A's, but he was still able to land a decent relief pitcher.  Wolf had a 2.11 ERA with only one home run allowed (38.1 innings) in Triple-A prior to the trade.  Do these stats remind anyone of Brad Ziegler?

So...how does this final trade sound to you?  Joe Blanton, Jeff Gray and Ronny Morla for Josh Outman, Adrian Cardenas, Adam Rosales and Ross Wolf.
