6/19 Minor Athletics

Green is hot.

SAC: W, 8-7

Carson CF: 2-4, R, 2B, RBI, BB, .307

Carter 1B: 1-3, 2B, 2 RBI, 2 BB, K .241 (seems like he's just treading water, I expect him to go on a hot streak and get into the .270s range)

Watson DH: 1-4, R, HR, 2 RBI, BB

Taylor RF: 1-2, R, 3 BB .235 (4 games in a row, slowly but surely. Good to see the walks, hits will come.)

Mortensen: 7 IP, H, 2 BB, 7 K 3.66 era (Jamey Wright blew the game...giving up 6 runs. Nice game for Clay)

Midland: W, 8-3

Gilbert LF: 1-4, 2 R, 2 BB .258

Brown CF: 3-4, 3 R, RBI, BB .347

Caardenas 3B: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI .429

Horton SS: 4-5, 2 R, 2B, .284

Edell (W, 3-1) 6.1 IP, 4 H, ER, 6 K 1.42 era (this has been a really nice signing for the midland squad. 7 straight starts where he has given up 3 runs or less. I like these signings because they're not premier prospects but more for organizational depth. They improve a team and give guys, hitters and pitchers, more confidence.)

Justin Murray makes his first start for Midland this year after being called up from Stockton. Drafted in the 28th rnd in 2008. Good luck.

Stockton: L, 4-13

Mitchell CF: 1-5, R, HR, RBI, 2 K .309

Green DH: 3-5, 2 R, .320 (don't know what to say, just keeps on hitting. .405 over his last 10 and .381 for the month. I don't mind the lack of power. He has 27 extra base hits out of his 90 on the season. He's raised his OPS to .837 which I would take in a heart beat for any of our A's hitters right now.

Parker 3B: 0-3, 2 BB .299 Surprising first half. Did not anticipate the combination of power and patience.

Sprina 1B: 1-4, R, HR, RBI, K .254 Nice to see his first half power. Reminds me of our next Everidge.

Smalley (L, 2-5) 3.1, 8H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 3 K 6.19 era

Smyth 2.2 IP, H, 5 K 1.54

Kane County: L, 0-8

Stassi C: 0-4, 2 K .246

Dixon LF, 1-4, K .266

Straily (L, 5-4) 5 IP, 6 H, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 K 4.80 era

VAN: W, 2-1

Wells 2B: 1-3, BB

Affinito 1B: 2-3, R, 2B, RBI, BB, K

Kirby-Jones DH: 0-4, 2 K

Thompson 3B: 0-3, BB

Christensen: 6 IP, 4 H, ER, 4 K

Doolittle (W, 1-0) 2 IP, H, 2 K

Go A's, please win.
