I was wondering about Donaldson...
Good to see Barfield and Green slowly raising those lines. Although some XBH from both would be nice. And Taylor and Carter need to have a couple good weeks.

Tossed last night in the first for arguing a strike call.

SuSlu was there last night and from what it sounded like Donaldson barely said a word before he got the thumb

Yeah it was very surprising to see him get tossed. Especially since later in the game the Ranier manager was in the same ump’s face screaming and didn’t get tossed.

In his last five games, Green has gone 15 for 23 with 4 doubles and a triple
An article on Fangraphs the other day said he was clinging on to his prospect status for dear life, which seemed premature even when he had a sub-.700 OPS
If you think Billy Beane is a bad GM, I hate you and find you stupid.
Clinging onto his prospect status for dear life?
It’s his first year of pro ball. Good god.

Looks like Stassi is slowing down his K rate

.739 OPS in the Midwest League early in the year is pretty good for a catcher.

Carter last night...
He was about six feet from having a 2/4 night with 2 HRs. The double was a laser off the wall in left, and his last fly out was a towering shot caught right at the wall.

I guess the team don't think he's that good.

Didn't reach AAA til he was 26,
and didn’t really put in solid numbers til then.
Guy who can come up when there are guys on the DL, but probably will never be anything more than a 5th OF

And unfortunately for him, the A's are really good at acquiring and developing 5th OFs

I wouldn't mind Carson as a platoon partner for Gross. Both are very good defenders.

Fox & Patterson
Their existence makes our farm system irrelevant. No matter what happens we wont have room for whoever, because of those 2 chuds wasting roster space.

Fox actually does serve a purpose if he's going to platoon with Cust (bad idea, I think) and/or if Powell is going to get some time as a DH
But Patterson really doesn’t need to be here. He never did, but now he really doesn’t.

Our bench really should be
Powell, Rosales, Gross, and Carson. Keep Fox until Crisp comes back and DFA Patterson ASAP.

Very nice Noava...
Since you already have both OBP & SLG, you probably don’t need OPS. Conversely, perhaps you could put # of ABs or IP instead.
it's my understanding that slash lines include obp
but you guys weigh in and let me know your opinion
I did include IP for pitchers.
OBP is included
JonL is saying since the triple slash is AVG/OBP/SLG, we don’t need the OPS bit at the end since we can add OBP and SLG. I like OPS though. The only suggestion I’d make is to include less prospects. I normally only look for 1-2 names in the boxscores unless someone has a monster game. But if other people like seeing Steve Kleen or John Halama’s lines that’s fine.

Im just curious
Woul anyone here support a Chris Carter for Dan Haren trade? lol, would be weird….
-The president of the "Sign Elijah Dukes" fan club.
I'd probably do it
I mean, yeah, Carter’s good, but he’s still just one prospect.
"Loyal? I'm the most loyal player money can buy." - Don Sutton
Definitely.
Carter isn’t even a top 10 prospects on the likes of Heyward or Posey or something. Definitely pull the trigger.
They wouldn’t, though.
I'm walking out in a force ten gale.
Birds thrown around, bullets for hail.
I doubt they would
But I could see it being a buyer’s market for SP. Oswalt’s available, Lee is probably available, Sheets could be available, Bedard and Webb could hit the market as dark horses. If the DBacks get strapped for cash, Haren could come cheaper than his true value.
Sadly though, there is no way the DBacks would trade him back to the A’s. I’d love him though.

Interesting development in Kane County
Robert Gilliam, 22 year old starting pitcher sporting a 3.68 ERA with a 45/22 K/BB ratio this season, is listed as the starting shortstop for the game batting 8th. I’m just going off the milb.com box score and he hasn’t batted yet so maybe it’s a typo but if this is real it raises a few questions. Seems early in his career to be a permanent transition, could the Cougars really have no one else they could play at shortstop?
Nevermind, it was a typo
Well, so much for my excitement. MILB has corrected the box score and is correctly listing the player as Michael Gilmartin who is a shortstop. Nothing to see here folks, just me getting fooled.
Oh yea, and Rashun Dixon hit a homerun.
