Open Thread: Game 70 - A's at St. Louis

The road trip from heck -- and I'm being kind here -- continues as the A's try to beat Adam Wainwright, and really how hard could that be? Ben Sheets to rebound from a couple disappointing outings and ward off two demons: Sheets has pitched woefully on the road this year and no team has hit him better over the years than the Cardinals.

Ok, Billy (or Forst, whatever), we’re not contending this year. Let’s NOT destroy the arms of our obviously injured pitchers just so we can finish third instead of fourth.

Following up on the injury discussion above,

I just skimmed the injury lists for all 14 AL teams. A’s, Rangers, and Angels are all above average in injuries, but the team hit the worst so far this year seems to be the Red Sox. Two teams have significantly fewer injuries than all the rest: the White Sox and the Rays.

Caveat for all of this that there’s no clear formula for how to count injuries in terms of severity, but that’s my sense from reading the lists.
