There are very few, potential, moments that this team will feel that can be measured against the high that they are on after Sunday's perfect game by Dallas Braden.
Braden is not one to hog the spotlight like some pitchers have been known to do, cough...Schilling...cough, instead of polarizing his teammates he welcomes them into his World. He did this when he stood up to A-Rod and the powerful Yankees and then he put the cherry on top of his carrot topped leadership by dazzling the AL's best offense and giving the credit to his teammates.
Now, it is up to his teammates to ride this wave and put some distance between the A's and the rest of the AL West.
The first matter of business is to take two of three from Texas and leave the dreaded Ballpark in Arlington with a share of the lead.
The Angels, who are currently 3 games behind Oakland will have to deal with those pesky Rays who are NOT A-Mused by losing two of three on the road for the first time all year. In fact, the two games that they dropped in Oakland were only their second and third road losses for the season.
IF Tampa can take two of three from the Angels then that would put them 4 games into our rearview mirror with Braden taking the mound against the AL West Kingpens on Friday.
But, wait, it gets even better...After the A's leave Arlington, the Rangers travel to Toronto and then fly all the way back home to host the Angels while the M's are in Oakland.
Before you think that I've gotten ahead of myself here, I am NOT SAYING that the Division will be won over the next 8 days, not even close. But, the next 8 days could see the A's 6 games up or 9 games back.
I am interested, howzabout youz?
On a side note, correct me if I'm wrong, Braden will miss the Yankee Series in July if everything stays on schedule. (Now, I'm really ahead of myself)
