It is just fantastic to have baseball back, and our pitching looks great! Our Offense at the moment is not so great; one could easily argue that it is the worst in baseball. However, I do see some signs for growth, obviously with Chris Carter and Michael Taylor developing in the minors for the A’s right now. I’ll be honest I did not get the chance to see many spring training games, and the things I heard from Michael Urban regarding Eric Chavez, were that his bat speed was gone.
I am no expert on baseball in any way, I played growing up and in high school and then I suppose I ran out of talent to play in college etc. My point is that I must be missing something from what Urban was describing, because I have thought Chavy’s swing has look pretty darn good.
Yahoo Sports ran an article just trashing the A’s for their opening day lineup, saying they had a bunch of Alex Cora’s. They also trashed the A’s for getting rid of Jack Cust, I am on the fence about that, because I can see both sides of it. My point to this, is that while yes the A’s opening day lineup it pretty bad, there are some bright spots on the team, Chavy is looking good, Rajai is looking like a legit leadoff man, Sweeny is pretty good, Suzuki is a good catcher, I also like Buck, and Kooz can be a solid player, I am not sure about Pennington he looks OK. Now if Carter and Taylor can come up and be good players, the A’s could really have a decent core with their offense in my opinion going forward.
Just my thoughts tell me what you think
Go A’s!
