Don't let this chance slip completely away
The AL West is weak. The Angels are not what they once were. The Mariners are so-so which makes them a contender in this division. Texas is Texas with pitching woes that go on forever.
We can compete, but we'll need to sign a player or two and there are some decent names still out there. I would propose Washburn for the rotation. He is a flyball pitcher who would lick his chops to toss in the expansive Oaktown. Maybe even Pedro who is looking for a job. Then for the field I may suggest - and I know this will be inviting much ire from many - J Dye. He would come cheap at this point. He knows our outfield clearly though he is a defensive liability out there. Dye, Sweeney, Raj. CoCo eventually.
Or we could make a trade. Look what Thome is doing from the PH position this season. Full time DH for us? What other options are there that you all can think of. The division is there for the taking.
Gross, Patterson and Rosales are complimentary players but not full timers. Mazzaro is suspect on the bump and still needs time in the minors. Make a move or two!

Over-reacting maybe?
Its actually because the division is week that we can still compete even now. Yeah it sucks, but its April still and we still will have a winning record. I think any one of us would have taken that at the beginning of March. I disagree with your suggestion of Rosales and Mazz though i do agree about Gross and Patterson.
If we can hold our own the next couple of weeks and i think we can, we will be fine. The only thing wrong with our team right now is the same thing it was April 1st. Lack of consistent offense. If we didnt trade before the season to fix it, why are we going to four weeks in?
Chill out and let it play out.

Patterson
I can tolerate him in spurts like 2 games a week and surprisingly he’s actually hit well in limited ab’s. But I see a player who might be coasting on his raw talent, but IMO isnt getting the most of his ability. Great college player, absolutely has destroyed the minors, but his defense is terrible and has an uppercut swing. If we see this A’s fans you would hope he would work to fix these flaws or the coaches would notice it.
patterson is better option at DH now.
as cust always was
