Oh, poor baby. I can't take as much pleasure in him getting the shaft

as I would if it had been Crosby.
He strikes me as a very shy, sweet individual and I mean that in a manly way.
I think Billy had flashbacks of the Crosby/Ellis collision.
With our injury record he should be back up or catch on with another team.
Plus he still lookslike Babe Ruth.

This is good

since the A’s have a new gameplan. They have better hitters, not just low average, high power, high strike out guys like Cust. Kouzmanoff is a good power hitter and Chavy is a better hitter than Cust anyway. Also the good young hitters will have more at bats when they come up. This way they can add a more versatille guy and have more flexibility.

I think it's ridiculous to think that Chavez is a better hitter than Cust at this point.

Chavez hasn’t played baseball in 4 years, and every time he’s played within those 4 years has been nothing more than awful.

Chavy is better

he is a better contact hitter and is good for 15-25 homers. He does not strike out half as much as Cust and he gets on base more.

Chavy is better worse he is a better contact hitter and is good bad for 15-25 homers games. He does not strike out half as much as Cust and but he gets on base more less.

Chavez has had one season with an OBP as good as Cust's worst season.

I kinda feel bad for cust

He looked shocked, drained, out of it

He might not have been the ideal player, but while chavez was injured, collecting pay checks Cust was healthy in the lineup providing one of the few power sources on this team. Maybe the only one honestly. If anything this shows poor handling by wasting money and as we know the A’s kind of cut throat and heartless nature when handling players at times.

For a guy who spent a decade in minors

It must be a terrible shock to possibly go back after three years of playing regularly at the big league level. But then again, he’ll collect a $2.650.000 paycheck this year so there’s little reason to lose sleep over his disappointment.

wow i cant belive he dfa

as much as its good to see a healthy chavez its kinda of a bummer to see cust cast aside for a player that has not performed in over 3 years, and on top of that have his roster spot given to an unproven pitcher, shure cust is a strike out machine but he adds 20-30 jacks to the line up,while we dont kno wat the a’s will get wit chavy maybe a middle of the road avg with ok power or hopefully a 270 30 hr vintage chavy season,or he just gets hurt,i hope cust clears waivers and comes back after someone(chavy) gets hurt or he goes somewhere else and thrives just like everyother player billy beane and the orginization has screwed over.

"I just saw him on the front of yahoo.com"

As Billy Beane throws a chair across the room.
What’s the worst trade Beane can make with Jack? It’s not like Beane has a resentful, punitive bone in his body? Right?

Oh please!

The A’s do not need any more one dimensional players. Good riddance!

What?

How does getting on base, drawing walks and hitting home runs make you a one-dimensional player?

That's redundant, he gets on base by drawing walks.....

He steps to the left, he steps to the riiiiiiight. That Amos Roberts, he'll make you look shite!

dang.

i mean… it’s business… but you can’t help to feel sorry for him. he was a good guy. not to get into his stats too much, but he wasn’t the worst player ever. we kinda gave him the run around and then dumped him on his ass.

gave him a run around?

we were the only team to take a chance on him. we let this career minor leaguer prove himself, then let him test the free-agent market, and when noone wanted him, we gave him 2.65 mill to come back and battle for the DH position.

billy did it this way not to ‘dump him on his ass’ but limit the teams that could easily pick him up. now billy can put him in sacramento and have him in his back pocket if we need him.

you're right.

maybe i just have too much empathy… bah.
