The A's leadoff spot

Hey everyone. I did some number crunching today and thought I'd share with everyone. I know it's only been 20 games into the season but I've been seen a little trend with our leadoff spot. I think Davis is an amazing player.... when he gets on base. Davis has 17 hits, been walked 3 times (take a pitch), and scored 14 runs. Yes, a very small sample size but he's scoring 70% of the time he reaches base!

I looked back at all the boxscores so far and wanted to see how our leadoff OBP translated into runs and wins.

In the games the A's lost, our leadoff spot had an OBP of .120 and scored 2 runs a game. Ouch.

When the A's won, our leadoff spot had an OBP of .320 and the A's scored 6.33 runs a game. Not an amazing OBP but way better than .120.

One more little stat I found, when the leadoff man got on base .333 of the time or more, the A's are 6-1 and scored 7.29 runs a game.

I'm not saying replace Davis, I just hope he starts taking a few more pitches. 3 walks is not enough.
